Lennette J. Wilson

December 11, 1953 — November 13, 2022

Swatara Township

Lennette J. Wilson, 68, of Swatara Township, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Harrisburg Hospital.

Born December 11, 1953 in New York, she was an employee of the State Department of Education, Division of Federal Programs.

A woman of deep faith, Lennette attended Living Water Community Church and St. Paul’s Baptist Church (where she and her son were baptized together), and enjoyed listening to Gospel music, watching and supporting the 700 Club, reading faith-based books, and studying Bible scriptures.

She also liked watching television; Judge Judy and Judge Faith and other daytime shows and would watch nearly any movie streaming on Netflix and Hulu, especially those with a cultural message.

Lennette loved her job and her co-workers.  She was always upbeat and smiling and could be counted on to dance around the office, bringing happiness to all around her.  Her humor and love of conversations will be missed by all.  She was a fashionista with her own style – her “swag”- and always knew how to put her outfits together.

Mostly, she was a loving mother who cherished time with her son; taking walks, going to church, eating good food (especially greens, oxtails, fish knishes and Burger King fish sandwiches), and raising plants from seedlings to large, healthy greenery.  In him, she instilled a tremendous work ethic, and encouraged him to be everything he could be.

Surviving is her son:  Johnny “Prince” Maxey (and Heaven Washington); two daughters:  Kishana Wilson and Martha Smith; her beloved cat:  Princess (aka Chunky) and her hamster:  MJ.  She also will be dearly missed by her friends and co-workers.

A memorial gathering will be scheduled for a future time.

Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

Kimmel Funeral Home, Harrisburg, is handling arrangements.
