Joseph J. Spogli, 95, Lower Paxton Township, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Ecumenical Communities, Harrisburg.
Born January 22, 1927 in Pittston, Joe was the son of the late Joseph R. and Julia (Cacciamani) Spogli and was a graduate of St. Paul’s Catholic School in Scranton. Following graduation, he entered the Army and served his country during WWII.
On June 10, 1960, he married the former Dorothy A. Blanchard, and moved to Susquehanna Township for his work. He worked for Dauphin County before becoming a computer programmer for the State, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, Harrisburg.
When he was younger, he enjoyed playing tennis, roller-skating, bowling and truly loved going out dancing with his wife and traveling to Italy and Williamsburg, VA to visit with family. Joe took great pride in his home and liked working in his yard and garden.
His wife, Dottie, passed away in February 2021. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Anne Spogli and Gloria Spogli.
Surviving is his son: Joseph K. Spogli (and his wife, Tracey), Mechanicsburg; his sister: Marie M. Walsh, Scranton; 5 grandchildren: Gina Gross (and her husband, Jon), Alyssa Spogli (and her fiancé, Nathan Orris), Alexandra Cardina (and her husband, Michael), Ethan Sgrignoli, and Ashlee Folkemer (and her husband, Joel); 3 great grandchildren: Jacob Folkemer, Allyson Folkemer, and Luca Cardina; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 9, 2022 at his church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg. Burial with Military Honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church Monday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
