Surrounded by her loving family, Dorothy Rae (Hackenberger) Hoch, 81, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at her home in Harrisburg following a brief illness.

Born November 22, 1938 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Gieser) Hackenberger and was a 1957 graduate of John Harris High School.

Dotty had been employed by the PLCB as a secretary and had been a bartender at Club Stablemate in Harrisburg.

She was the widow of Paul A. Hoch. In addition to her husband and parents, Dotty was preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Daniels, who passed away in early May; her granddaughter, Wakeeta Daniels and; her great grandson, Malik Bailey; two brothers, George Hackenberger and Robert Hackenberger; her sister, Elizabeth Hubbard and her son-in-law, Barry Daniels, Jr.

Dotty was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister, and was a wonderful childcare provider who cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bingo and card games; traveling and camping.

She leaves behind a large and beloved family: 4 daughters: Deborah A. Basham (and Bill), Mechanicsburg, Cynthia M. Hoch (and Alfred Long), Harrisburg, Tracy L. Baltimore (and Michael), Harrisburg and Paula M. Hoch Chambers, Mechanicsburg; one sister: Grace Kuhn (and Jim), Landisburg; one brother: Edward Hackenberger, Harrisburg; 14 grandchildren: Paul Hoch, Nicole Hoch, James Hoch, Althea Hoch, Paris Hoch, Kristy Ransom, Michelle Basham, Anthony Watters, Briona Baltimore, Cheri Bailey, Barry Daniels III, Kareem Daniels, Shyreen Miller and Francis Tucker; 39 great grandchildren (plus one on the way); and two great-great grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will begin at 2:00 pm Friday, June 12, 2020 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg.
