Doris J. (Fleisher) Beatty

Doris Jean (Fleisher) Beatty, 93, formerly of Lower Paxton Township, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Bethany Village.

Born February 28, 1929 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late H. Brandt and Dorothy K. (Gause) Fleisher and was a graduate of William Penn High School, Harrisburg.

Doris was the widow of C. Edward Beatty, who passed away in 1998 after 41 years of marriage.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Haffley.

When she was younger, Doris was a hard working employee at various companies in the area.  She was an underwriter with Merchant’s and Businessmen’s Insurance Company; a secretary with American Oil Company and United Telephone Company; and was a local dealer for Fuller Brush Company.

She was a longtime member of Calvary United Methodist Church and was active in the C.U.M Club of Calvary and the church’s knitting group.  In her younger days, she enjoyed dancing at the CoEd Club of the Harrisburg YMCA.  Doris enjoyed listening to Christian music stations and watching movies on the Hallmark Channel.  While living at Bethany Village, she truly loved meeting new people and playing bingo and other games.

Mostly, Doris was a loving wife and mother.  She was a staunch supporter of her sons in high school choir; loved cooking, sewing and crocheting; and generally caring for her family.

Surviving are her sons:  Ronald E. Beatty, Harrisburg and Jeffrey A. Beatty, Shrewsbury; her sister:  Nancy L. Reitzel, Penbrook; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 12:00 pm Friday, March 25, 2022 at her church, 4700 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, 17109 with Rev. Randall Bennett, Jr. officiating.  Viewing will be at the church from 11:00 am until shortly before the services.  Entombment will follow the services at Rolling Green Memorial Park.
