Winifred Claire Smith, 83, Harrisburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Colonial Park Care Center.
Born February 27, 1935 in Rockville, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Smith and his wife, Mary. She was also preceded in death by her young daughter, Nan Carol, and her sister, Joyce Smith.
Winnie was a graduate of Susquehanna Township High School and was retired from AMP/TYCO.
She was a longtime member of Cornerstone Baptist Fellowship.
Winnie loved going to Atlantic City; and was smart enough to walk away a winner. She and her boys led an adventurous life and were able to visit all 48 contiguous states and attend many World Fairs. She enjoyed the music of Kenny Rogers and occasionally playing bingo; but her greatest joy came from being "Mom". Not just to her own children; she was indeed the neighborhood mother, often gathering up the neighbors' children and taking them on outings with her boys.
Surviving are her sons: Randy Lee Smith (and his wife, Rebecca), Mechanicsburg and Keith Vernon Smith, Harrisburg; 2 grandchildren: Jacob Smith and Scarlet Smith; and her dearest friend: Joanne Sweigard. Winnie will also be an angel in Heaven watching over her unborn great grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Cornerstone Baptist Fellowship, 310 South Progress Avenue, Harrisburg, 17109, with the Rev. Dan Inderbitzen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to her church, and the family would like to thank the pastor and members for all the loving support they provided to Winnie.
Kimmel Funeral Home, Harrisburg, is handling arrangements.
