Surrounded by her loving family, Shawna Lynn Carroll, 51, of Oberlin, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Hershey Medical Center. Born May 10, 1973, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of Barbara (Ellerman) Carroll and the late Myles Carroll.
A 1993 graduate of John Harris High School, Shawna exuded love and compassion in every aspect of her life. She found joy in spending quality time at Penn National alongside her devoted husband, Tony, and in annual family vacations to beloved destinations like Disney World and Ocean City, Maryland. Her hobbies included watching movies, collecting gorillas, maps and globes, indulging in old-school R&B tunes, exploring adult coloring books and word search puzzles, and immersing herself in the captivating world of romance novels.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her nieces: Jaliya and Jaylynn, Tony’s parents: Ramon Antonio and Betty Santiago; and her precious dogs, Cocoa, Pepper, Taco, Nyla, and most recently, Coffee.
Surviving is her husband and love of her life for over 21 years: Antonio Santiago, Jr; her mother: Barbara Carroll, Harrisburg; her step-father: Eddie Duffy; her step-son: Antonio Santiago, III; her brother: Myles Carroll, Jr, Harrisburg; two sisters: Koren Carroll and Ikea Carroll, both of Harrisburg; her godchildren: Eulises Cruz, Jr and Jalexi Crawley-Santiago; Tony’s siblings: Nancy (also Shawna’s best friend) and Lee Crawley, Jose Santiago (and his fiancée, Melanie Lanehart) and Anna Santiago; a grandson: Blayze Santiago; nieces and nephews: Ravyn (and her daughter: Londyn), Lyndell, Jr. (and his son: Ah’Kari), E’Niyah , Jai’Lynn, Alexander, Jaheem, Deshawn, Jaquan, Jalexi, Janaya, Jakira, Jazlynn, Jalena, Jassalynn, Jaquala, Jaliya, Kay’onni and Eulises III; her beloved pups: Cinnamon, Biggie, and Mocha; and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom will miss her greatly.
Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg. There will be a viewing at the funeral home Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday.
Burial will follow in William Howard Day Cemetery, Steelton.
In Shawna's passing, we are reminded of the beauty she brought to this world and the love she graciously shared with those around her. May her spirit soar and her memory endure in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her.
