Louis M. Waleff, Jr.

January 24, 1962 — September 23, 2017

Louis M. Waleff, Jr., 55, West Hanover Township, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 23, 2017 in Corning, NY.

Born January 24, 1962, he was the son of Louis M. Waleff, Sr. and MaryAnn (Demchok) Waleff and was a 1979 graduate of Elizabethtown High School.

Louie received his Bachelor’s Degree from Edinboro University in Communications. He worked at WPDC (AM radio) and was known as DJ Dusty Roads at Z107. It was here that he met the love of his life, Brenda.  He also worked for the Blind Association, often recruiting his sister to help him read the newspaper from cover to cover on Saturdays on the radio for the visually impaired.

After leaving radio, Lou worked for the State; first as a Media Technician at the Museum, and then as the Communication Specialist for the House of Representatives and Democratic Caucus.

A member of Faith United Church of Christ, Grantville, he was involved with the church Consistory and assisted with the audio visual media for the church and the conference. He was also an occasional usher and helped out wherever his wife needed him.

He was a member of Perseverance Lodge, F&AM and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Forest 43. Lou loved bowling since high school and college, and until it disbanded last year, ran the Masonic Bowling League out of Red Crown Bowling Alley. He once missed a perfect score by one pin.

Lou was the President of the Haps Boyer Baseball Tournament, Vice President of the Central Dauphin HS PTSO and was extremely active with the CDHS Ice Hockey team, especially in the locker room and penalty box.  He was truly a “Hockey Dad”.

He loved his Oakland Raiders, the Boston Red Sox, golf, and 70s music, especially the Little River Band. Mostly, he treasured his family and friends and was extremely proud of his children. He was, as his friends stated, “Never without a smile.” He was loved deeply and will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him.

His beloved wife, Brenda Boyer Waleff, passed away in August of 2016, just shy of their 30th anniversary.

Surviving are his parents: Louis and MaryAnn Waleff, Elizabethtown; his children: Megan and Dustin Waleff, at home; his sisters: Val Minnich (and her husband, David), Elizabethtown and Nancy Clinger (and her husband, Craig), E. Petersburg; his brother: Gary Waleff, Manheim; his brother in law: Ronald Thomas; his nieces: Olivia Thomas and Erica Minnich; his nephews: Andrew Clinger, Joshua Clinger, Zachary Thomas and Jonathan Minnich; and many dear friends.

Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 30, 2017 at his church 117 N. Faith Road, Grantville with Reverend George E. Robertson, his pastor, officiating.

Viewing will be Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg, where there will be a Masonic Service at 7:45 pm; and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday at the church.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
