J. Ronald Wix

J. Ronald Wix, 82, passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2016 at his home in Swatara Township.


Born January 31, 1934 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late James N. and Hilda A. (Harper) Wix, was a 1951 graduate of John Harris High School and a 1955 graduate of Muhlenburg College.


Ron was a retired branch manager from the Central Penn Savings and Loan in Hummelstown; and had previously sold Real Estate and worked for York Federal.


He has been a 50 plus year member at Paxton Presbyterian Church; where he was an Elder, Deacon, Usher, Church Historian and caretaker of Paxton Churchyard.


A longtime history buff, Ron was a member of the Civil War Roundtable, Hershey, the Paxtang Historical Society, Sons of the American Revolution (Harris Ferry Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society), was a longtime member of the Swatara Township Civil Service Commission, and was treasurer for over 20 years of the Hummelstown Historical Society. He truly enjoyed his role as family genealogist and loved to spend time hunting and fishing and reading.


Surviving are his children: Sharon D. (and her husband, William) Sanderson, Harrisburg, Ronald E. Wix, Harrisburg, Cindy W. (and her husband, Charles) Mory, Harrisburg, James M. (and his wife, Gail) Wix, Harrisburg and Sonya J. Wix, Lykens; 3 grandchildren: Chase R. (and his wife, Kristina) Mory, Christian J. Mory and James F. Wix; his brother: Richard H. (and his wife, Theresa) Wix, Harrisburg; nieces and nephews; and was eagerly expecting his first great grandchild in December, Damien C. Mory.


Memorial Services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in his church, 3500 Sharon Street, Harrisburg, 17111 with the Rev. John W. Green, his pastor, officiating. Friends will be received from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm Tuesday at the church.


Private burial will be held at a later date at Paxton Churchyard.


In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory should be made to his church.
