Jose E (Joe) Santa
October 14, 1975 — September 2, 2016
After battling a serious heart condition for many years, Jose E. "Joe" Santa, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at his home in Swatara Township.
Born October 14, 1975 in Puerto Rico, he was the son of Elias Santa, Sr. and Teresa Sanchez, both of Harrisburg, and was a graduate of John Harris High School .
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Elias Santa, Jr., Harrisburg; 2 sisters, Maria (and her husband, Dion) Muth, Harrisburg and Elisa Green, Harrisburg; his beloved nephew and the true love of his life, Geno Green; his step-father, Hector Mendez; his favorite aunt, Polita Sanchez, Houston, Texas; his uncles, Eduardo, Ito, Carlos, Guango, Frin and Guiso; his aunts, Soco, Rosita, Dady and Yiya; his cousins, Peluza "Jemily" and Zully; and his loving maternal grandmother, Paula Rios, Puerto Rico, who has lost her favorite grandchild. He is also survived by many other family members and friends in the Harrisburg area, all of whom will miss him greatly.
Joe enjoyed watching old school wrestling, Gilligans Island and his Buffalo Bills. Mostly, though, he loved spending time with his family, especially Geno. All who knew him will miss his sense of humor. He truly wanted to make them all laugh and feel welcome. Even though his heart condition left him unable to work, he never lost his family role of jokester or his childlike enthusiasm for everything. To Joe, family meant the world, and being together made everyone smile. He loved his mother's cooking, especially his favorite meal, steak with sauce and rice with beans. His passing leaves a heartache for all who loved him.
There will be a funeral service for Joe 12:00 pm Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market Street, Harrisburg. Viewings will be Wednesday evening from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Thursday morning from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Harrisburg.
In his memory, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
