James M. Wix, 65, of Lower Paxton Township, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Northern Dauphin Nursing and Rehabilitation in Millersburg. Born on December 4, 1960, in Philadelphia, James was the cherished son of the late J. Ronald Wix and Harriet (Glise) Epler, and was also preceded in death by a still-born baby boy, his brother, Ronald E. Wix, and his stepfather, Donald K. Epler.
A proud 1979 graduate of Central Dauphin East High School, James was a former member of Paxton Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg. Throughout his life, he demonstrated a love for community and camaraderie, managing several local convenience stores before an accident changed his path. As a child, he enjoyed playing baseball with the Wilhelm Youth Baseball Association and swimming for the Lenker Manor Swim Club. He treasured pursuits like hunting, fishing, and was an enthusiastic card player, often participating in card groups alongside his mother. His passion for history was evident in his fondness for World War II documentaries on the History Channel.
Above all, James was a loving husband and devoted father. He spent countless joyful hours supporting his son’s school sports and activities, always cheering him on with pride.
James is lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 41 years, Gail F. (Miller) Wix, whom he married on May 11, 1985. He is also survived by his son, James F. Wix, and his wife Allison, who eagerly await the arrival of their first child, Cooper James Wix, in the coming weeks. He is further survived by his sisters Sharon D. Sanderson (William), Cindy W. Mory (Charles), and Sonya Wix; nephews Chase Mory (Kristina) and Christian Mory (Brittany); grandnephews Damien, Weston, Harper, and Mason; as well as his paternal uncle Richard H. Wix (Theresa).
A memorial service to celebrate James’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Paxton Presbyterian Church, 3500 Sharon Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111. Friends are warmly invited to join the family from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM in the church’s Great Room for fellowship and light continental breakfast refreshments. A private burial will follow in the Paxton Churchyard.
Kimmel Funeral Home, Harrisburg, is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
James’s warmth, kindness, and steadfast devotion to family and friends will forever hold a special place in all our hearts.
