He was an active member of Paxton United Methodist Church, where he was involved in the Helping Hands Sunday School Class and was known as an “egger”, making dozens of Easter eggs every year. He was the former secretary of the Penn Gardens Lions Club and had also been a member of the UBEW where he assisted with the Blood Bank.

Always willing to lend a hand, he helped all of his children with household repairs and was skilled in woodworking and gardening.   He also enjoyed camping, bird watching and feeding the squirrels. When his children were young, he was involved with their activities in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Mostly, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

Brauning (and his wife, Lisa), Harrisburg; 6 grandchildren: Robert Bell III, Elyse Hammaker, Douglas Brauning, Megan Hollenbach, Valerie Page and Kristine Brauning; 2 great grandchildren: Noah Hollenbach and Jace Hollenbach; 2 brothers: Charles Brauning and William Brauning, both of West Virginia; nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends.
