Doris Jean (Smith) Morgan

Elizabethtown

Our mother, Doris “Jean” Morgan, age 93 of Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA gained her angel wings on Sunday, August 6, 2023, 6 days shy of her 94th  birthday.

Jean was born on August 12, 1929, in Harrisburg to Erma and Harvey Smith who preceded her in death.

She was the widow of Ray S. Morgan. She was also preceded by brothers Gilbert and Donald, as well as two nephews.

She was a member of Community Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and was once active in ABWA, Hershey Area Women’s Connection, Girl Scout leadership and was an election day volunteer. She participated in several Bible Study groups where she met countless friends. Jean had a way of making everyone she met feel like part of the family.

She graduated from Susquehanna Township High School in 1946 where she participated in Drama Club, Typing Club, Intramural Basketball, and was the treasurer for the bowling club. She was a medical secretary for many years, retiring from Osteopathic Hospital where she was the Secretary to the Directress of Nursing.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Leonard of Mechanicsburg and a son Gregory (Kelly) Morgan of Landenberg.  She is also survived by the joys of her life, grandchildren,  Julie (Kenny) Heisey, Dale (Nikki) McCoy, Catherine Leonard, Benjamin (Maryellen) Morgan, Branson Morgan, Bryson Morgan, and Karlyn Morgan; as well as two great granddaughters, Rebekah Heisey and Montana McCoy. She is further survived by her brother, Merle (Dory) Smith. Fontana, CA many nieces and nephews and, being the gracious social butterfly, countless friends.

A celebration of life will be held at CEFC, 3640 Ash Street, Harrisburg, on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:00 am. Friends and family will be received beginning at 9:00 am. A light lunch will be served following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to CEFC, Our Daily Bread Ministries, or the Evergreen Hospice Unit at Masonic Village.

Arrangements are being handled by Kimmel Funeral Home, Harrisburg.
