David A. Wion

David A. Wion, 83, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by his family following a valiant battle with several health issues.

Born March 26, 1943, in Bellefonte, PA, he was the son of the late Phillip and Katherine (Johnston) Wion. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Nancy (O’Hara) Wion. He graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1961. He then graduated cum laude, with election to Phi Beta Kappa from Allegheny College in 1965 where he had a stellar football career, earning top scorer honors for the entire state of Pennsylvania and First Team All-State Halfback in 1963, and later induction into the Allegheny College Athletic Hall of Fame. He went on to study at the University of Pennsylvania law school earning his degree in 1968, after which he settled in Harrisburg, PA. He was a partner at the Wion, Zulli and Seibert law firm until 2014 when the firm merged with Caldwell and Kearns, PC. He was a member of the ABA, PBA and Dauphin County Bar Association. Municipal law was his love, and he served as solicitor for Steelton Borough, Swatara Township and Dauphin County.

When Dave was in junior high school, he met classmate Nancy O’Hara. They married on April 24, 1965, and were inseparable until her death in 2020. Not a day went by that he did not think of her. They were truly the loves of each other’s lives. It makes his family smile to think of them dancing together once again.

David was an active member and elder of Paxton Presbyterian Church where he served as a faithful usher.

His family meant everything and he was always in attendance at his children’s school activities. Coming from a Penn State family, he was an avid Nittany Lion fan and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also was a huge Tiger Woods fan and recently enjoyed watching Scottie Scheffler play. He enjoyed golfing, playing card games, listening to classical music and reading good books, a trait he passed on to his children.

Surviving is his daughter, Melissa (Wion) Bradley (and her husband, Lance), Harrisburg; his son, Matthew Wion (and his wife, Chela), North Haledon, NJ; one sister, Ann Wion, Derwood, MD; one brother, Phillip Wion, Pittsburgh, PA; 4 grandchildren, Michelle Reyes (and her husband, Raf), Madeline Calvache Wion (and her partner Sal), Andrea Calvache Wion and Sean Calvache Wion; 3 great-grandchildren, Adrianna Reyes and Alessandra Reyes; Tomasso Emmolo, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; many grand-dogs; and a host of other family members and friends.

There will be a viewing from 9:30 am-10:45 am at his church, 3500 Sharon Street, Harrisburg, 17111. Funeral services and burial in the Paxton Churchyard will be held at 11:00 am with Pastor Margaret Poteat, officiating.

Memorial contributions in David’s memory can be made to the East Shore YMCA (downtown) or to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania.
