Carole J. Troutman, 79, passed away on Wednesday, April 8 at Holy Spirit Hospital. A celebration of life will take place on May 30, 2026 at 11 o’clock at the Crosspoint United Methodist Church of 430 Colonial Rd., Harrisburg.
Carole was born on November 25, 1946. She was the daughter of Erma and Clair Troutman and stepdaughter of Nevin Hackenberg. She attended Middleburg Area High School and graduated in 1964. She was employed by the Department of Health and Welfare as a forms designer for approximately 38 years.
Carole lived an active life and enjoyed Crossfires Single Ministry for over 50 years; Hershey Area Women’s’ Connection; and West Hanover Township for Seniors. She loved to travel, shop, eat out, and attend plays and movies. Carole also loved to sing and to listen to music, mainly Christian, plus gather with friends to play cards and bingo. She enjoyed watching many sports on TV, especially the Steelers.
Carole is survived by a sister, Judy Highsmith (Jim) of Vallejo, California; Darla Gabriel (Bill) of Pittsburgh; a brother, Clair Troutman (Donna) of Lewisburg; and a stepfather, Nevin Hackenberg (Carole) of Evandale. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Erma Troutman Hackenberg; father, Clair Troutman, and sister, Nancy Snyder (John) of New Port Richey, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, we suggest donations to the Cancer Society or the Humane Society. We thank the caregivers and friends who took care of Carole.
