Dorothy (Dottie) A. Remaly, 94, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. She is now reunited with her late husband, Paul A. Remaly, exactly three years to the day after his passing.
Born December 17, 1928 in California, she was the only child of Alexander and Dorothy (Ehmann) Davidson and was a graduate of Upper Darby High School, Drexel Hill, PA. After she and Paul married on September 6, 1947, they settled in Lenker Manor in 1950.
A 71-year member of Paxton Presbyterian Church, Dottie served as a deacon and an elder, each for six years, and was also a member of the church choir for over 60 years. She was a member of the Greater Harrisburg chapter of Sweet Adelines for several decades, including participation in many regional, national, and international competitions. Her other interests included in being involved in her sons‘ and grandchildren’s activities, including countless hours traveling to swim practices and swim meets over the years, being a volunteer swim coach at Lenker Manor Swim Club for several summers, and sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Dottie’s seamstress skills included making most of her own clothing and sewing costumes for Sweet Adelines.
Surviving are her two sons: Donald A. Remaly, MD (and Rochelle Murlott), Broomfield, CO and Robert P. Remaly (and Shannon Sheehy), Cedar Lake, IN; 5 grandchildren: Rebecca (Remaly) Weitz, Westminster, CO; Gregory Remaly, Charlottesville, VA; Mark Remaly, Denver, CO; Nathan Remaly, Cedar Lake, IN and Mitchell Remaly, Cedar Lake, IN; one great-grandson, Jamison Weitz, Westminster, CO; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 in her church, 3500 Sharon Street, Harrisburg, with the Rev. Kent Carter officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Paxton Churchyard.
