Ronald B. “RB” Miller, 78, Lower Paxton Township, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Osteopathic Hospital.
Born March 2, 1941 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Milton B. Miller and Pearl Leib and was also preceded in death by his brother, James Miller and his sister, Janet Bowman.
Ronald joined the Harrisburg Police in 1968, retiring in 2007 after 39 years on the force. He was a second generation LEO, and even shared the number 13 badge with his father.
He was a member of the FOP Capital City Lodge #12, the Pennsylvania Association of Retired Police Officers, Robert Burns Masonic Lodge #464, F&AM, and the Zembo Shrine, and achieved the designation of Qualified (Honorary) in US Navy Submarine Warfare. He enjoyed fishing and fixing just about anything. Following his retirement, he loved meeting up with friends at the Skyline Diner for breakfast and used to say he was a card carrying member of the R.O.M.E.O. Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out).
Surviving are his children: Scott C. Miller (and Anne), Virginia Beach and Stacey J. Miller (and Cell Hachigeliyaro), Harrisburg; 2 brothers: Charles “Bud” (aka Charlie Longlegs) Miller and George Miller; his granddaughter: Lauren Miller; his best friend: Thomas VonNieda; and other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday May 4, 2019 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 2701 N 3rd Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110 in the Masonic Lodge Room on the Second Level. A Masonic Service will lead the celebration followed by a gathering for family and friends to share stories, memories and comfort in each other. Friends will be received from 11:00 am until the start of the Masonic Service at 12:00 pm.
