Rafael Santiago Robles, 93, Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Harrisburg Hospital.
He was the only child of the late Flor Santiago and Maria Robles and was also preceded in death by his wife, Angelina and his grandson, Marcos Perez.
He was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on October 24, 1925. After the death of his wife in 1975, he left Puerto Rico and settled in Brooklyn. There he was well respected and well known as a friend to everyone in his neighborhood and where he also operated a successful Shave Ice truck. In 2008, he moved to Harrisburg to live with his daughter, Ana Maria, who was his caregiver and his "baby".
He enjoyed playing the daily number, the lottery and dominoes and still enjoyed dancing, even in his later years. He loved working with his hands and could repair almost anything, at times pulling a broken appliance out of the trash and fixing it.
Surviving are his three children, Rafael "Junior" Santiago (and his wife, Priscilla), Brooklyn, Victor Manuel Santiago (and his wife, Gladys), Harrisburg and Ana Maria Santiago, with whom he resided; 10 grandchildren: Wanda Lopez, Jeanette Pagan, Michelle Santiago, Miguel Santos, Erica Santiago, Victor Santiago, Jr., Emmanuel Santiago, Eddie Santiago, Sonia Eng and Paul Perez; 25 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren .
Services will be held 12:00 pm Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Kimmel Funeral Home, 2001 Market St., Harrisburg with Father Orlando Reyes officiating. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 10:00 am until noon.
Burial beside his grandson will be in Shoop's Garden of Rest, Harrisburg.
